SPORT FISHING

The Papagayo Peninsula is known for some of the best sport fishing in the country, with thousands of anglers taking to the water each year. Whether you want to bottom-fish along the coast or head out into the open ocean for deep sea fishing, you’ll more than likely be bringing home some dinner!

Reel in giant Blue, Striped or Black Marlin, massive Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and Mahi Mahi (Dorado) are caught commonly in these waters. Wahoo and Roosterfish are also caught seasonally:

• Marlin – All year, most plentiful from June to September
• Sailfish – All year, most plentiful from May to August
• Yellowfin Tuna – All year
• Mahi Mahi – All year, most plentiful from June to October
• Wahoo – May through August
• Roosterfish – All year, most plentiful from November to March

We work with a large variety of fishing boats that we have vetted for our guests. We have options for every budget and group size and offer both half-day and full-day options. Our partners work their hardest to make sure you come home with a catch but, remember, it’s called “fishing” and not “catching”.
